Countdown to the Games:
DAAA is pleased to announce that the United States of America has been chosen as the host country for the 2013 World Dwarf Games. Held every four years, the 6th World Dwarf Games will be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan from August 3 through August 10, 2013. This prestigious and unique event will incorporate many different sports and will be an opportunity for both recreational and elite athletes from around the world to participate in a week of competition and camaraderie.
Over 500 athletes from around the world will compete in the 2013 World Dwarf Games. Some of the countries that will likely be represented will include Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Serbia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka and the United States. The United States was honored to host the first World Dwarf Games in Chicago in 1993. Subsequent World Games have been held in England (1997), Canada (2001), France (2005), and Northern Ireland (2009). All athletes who are eligible for competition in International Dwarf Athletic Federation (IDAF) events are eligible to participate in the World Games (this includes first time recreational athletes as well as returning elite athletes). Each country’s sanctioning body for IDAF will make up the composition of each country’s team.
