The Dwarf Athletic Association of America is a nonprofit organization created in 1985 to develop, promote, and provide quality amateur level athletic competition opportunities for dwarf athletes in the United States. DAAA athletes compete in track & field athletics, basketball, boccia, swimming, table tennis, badminton, volleyball and soccer.

DAAA is a self-sustaining organization that models fair competition and competitive excellence. Whether the intent is recreational, developmental or elite competitions, DAAA provides the context for each athlete's potential to be taken seriously and provides an opportunity for each athlete to be their best.

Our Mission

The Dwarf Athletic Association of America is committed to providing athletic competition, guidance, support, and information to people of short stature and to their families. You are welcome to contact us for more information about our organization, our annual DAAA National Games and the quadrennial World Dwarf Games.

Every level of ability and skill is welcomed and supported.

DAAA is dedicated to serving the estimated quarter million people in the United States of America who have any of the more than 200 forms of dwarfism as a result of skeletal dysplasia or related causes. Our mission is to encourage all people with dwarfism to participate in sports.

 

2012 DAAA National Games

The DAAA 26th National Games will be held in Dallas,TX from June 30 - July 4, 2012. Registration forms for the 2012 National Games can be found here.

In support of our athletes, DAAA usually needs about 100 volunteers to assist with the organization and execution of each year’s National Games. We appreciate any commitment that athletes, family, and friends can make to volunteer time while attending the 2012 National Games.

DAAA is seeking sponsors and donors to support and help to defer the cost of hosting Games. You can help DAAA athletes and volunteers continue to provide quality athletic events for dwarf athletes by either becoming or enlisting a sponsor for the 2012 National Games. If you or someone or a business you know is able to help, please complete a sponsorship form and return it to DAAA with the contribution.

As an alternative, DAAA would be happy to make contact with any potential sponsors that you might recommend. Please e-mail Mike Cekanor, DAAA Board Vice President, with the name of the contact person, business name (if applicable), phone number and e-mail address of the potential sponsor you would like us to contact. We will contact the sponsor and advise you of our results.

Special Note to DAAA Athletes: Any athlete that recommends a sponsor who commits to a sponsorship amount of $500 or more will receive a free registration to this year’s National Games!

 

2013 World Dwarf Games

Countdown to the Games:

DAAA is pleased to announce that the United States of America has been chosen as the host country for the 2013 World Dwarf Games. Held every four years, the 6th World Dwarf Games will be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan from August 3 through August 10, 2013. This prestigious and unique event will incorporate many different sports and will be an opportunity for both recreational and elite athletes from around the world to participate in a week of competition and camaraderie.

Over 500 athletes from around the world will compete in the 2013 World Dwarf Games. Some of the countries that will likely be represented will include Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Serbia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka and the United States. The United States was honored to host the first World Dwarf Games in Chicago in 1993. Subsequent World Games have been held in England (1997), Canada (2001), France (2005), and Northern Ireland (2009). All athletes who are eligible for competition in International Dwarf Athletic Federation (IDAF) events are eligible to participate in the World Games (this includes first time recreational athletes as well as returning elite athletes). Each country’s sanctioning body for IDAF will make up the composition of each country’s team.
